16 Jan – With Tom Hardy exiting Warner Bros.' upcoming "Suicide Squad", it is reported that director David Ayer is looking at his "End of Watch" star Jake Gyllenhaal to take over the role of Rick Flagg. Hardy has to leave the project due to schedule conflict, TheWrap reports, as filming for his current work "The Revenant" is being extended into March. When his "Mad Max: Fury Road" comes out in May, he will have to concentrate on the promotion for it. Meanwhile, filming for "Suicide Squad" is expected to start in April. The tight time frame forced Hardy to pass on the role of Flagg, the squad's leader.
If things work out, Gyllenhaal and Ayer will be working together again for the second time after their 2012 crime drama film collaboration. Gyllenhaal will be joining existing cast Will Smith, as Batman villain Deadshot; Margot Robbie, as Harley Quinn; Jai Courtney, as Captain Boomerang; Cara Delevigne, as Enchantress; and Jared Leto, as The Joker. Viola Davis is in talks to play Amanda Waller while Jesse Eisenberg is expected to reprise his Lex Luthor role. Gyllenhaal was last seen in last year's "Nightcrawler", which to date has made USD38 million worldwide, with USD95,654 of it grossed in Malaysia. "Suicide Squad" comes into theatres on 4 August 2015.
