3 Feb – "The Hunger Games" actress Elizabeth Banks is headed for the dark side as she has signed on to play Rita Repulsa for the upcoming "Power Rangers" movie by Lionsgate. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that "Project Almanac" director Dean Israelite will take on the project with Saban Brands producing the film together with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey. Allison Shearmur is also on board to executive produce. New faces will be playing the power-infused teenage superheroes that protect the world from evil forces. The new "Power Rangers" will be played by RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott and Dacre Montgomery. Rita Repulsa is an alien witch who has designs on the planet but little is known about her role, we can presume that she wants to conquer Earth, because that's what Rita Repulsa always wants. The script was written by Burk Sharpless from "The Last Witch Hunter" and Matt Sazama from "Gods of Egypt".
