This guy is the villain for the new "Tomb Raider" movie

Alicia Vikander is Lara Croft in the rebooted franchise.

8 Dec – "Django Unchained" and "The Hateful Eight" star, Walton Goggins, has now been announced as the main villain for the upcoming "Tomb Raider" film.

The reboot that will see "Ex-Machina" actress Alicia Vikander playing the titular Lara Croft character is reportedly in final negotiations with the actor for his signature.

This was according to Variety which reported, "Walton Goggins is in final negotiations to join Warner Bros, MGM and GK Films reboot of "Tomb Raider"."

Variety also reported that the movie will be directed by Roar Uthaug with the script written by "Transformers 5" scribe, Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

Working in several acclaimed movies and television series such as "Sons of Anarchy" and "Justified", Goggins is no stranger to playing antagonistic characters.

But it will still be interesting to see how he will fare against the Academy Award winning actress Alicia Vikander who gained fame for her role in "The Danish Girl" and the critically acclaimed "Ex-Machina".

Walton Goggins is set to go head-to-head against Alicia Vikander in Tomb Raider.

Published in 1996, the original Tomb Raider game on a daredevil archaeologist pursuing a series of missions emerged as one of the most successful video games of all time.

The video game was first adapted into a movie in 2001 followed by a sequel in 2003 with Angeline Jolie playing the iconic Lara Croft.

The new Tomb Raider movie is scheduled to hit theatres in March 2018.
