15 Jun – Grab some tissues, sad news is coming your way – author-producer Nicholas Sparks is shutting down his production company, Nicholas Sparks Productions. The film and TV production company founded by Sparks is closing down after only about four years in business, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Based on the Warner Bros. lot, Nicholas Sparks Productions was launched in 2012 with a two-year, first-look deal with Warner Horizon Television. Does this spell the end for romantic Nicholas Sparks movies? Fans don't fret, the answer is probably not. The company was focused more on developing TV series, including one based on the author's own "The Notebook", which the company teamed up last August with Warner Bros. TV to develop, and 2014's TV movie "Deliverance Creek". Sparks is well known for his romantic novels, of which eleven have been adapted to the big screen, including the aforementioned "The Notebook" (2004), "A Walk to Remember" (2002), "Dear John" (2010) and "The Longest Ride" (2015). "The Choice" (2016) and "Safe Haven" (2013) were the only book-to-movie adaptations of his that were produced by his production company. So it's safe to say Sparks might still be churning out more romantic movies in the years to come. Though it would also depend on whether there will be anyone willing to finance them since his movies have been losing their 'sparks' in recent years. The first movie, "Message in A Bottle" (1999), collected USD118.9 million worldwide. In comparison, the most recent one, "The Choice", only made a worldwide collection of USD23 million.
