Oscar nominations to be announced this Thursday

12 Jan – "The Office" star John Krasinski, "Life of Pi" director Ang Lee and "Crimson Peak" director Guillermo del Toro will announce the 88th Academy Awards nominations this Thursday, 14 January 2016. According to Entertainment Weekly, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of the Academy will join the trio for the announcement which begins at 9:30 p.m. SEA time (5:30 a.m. Pacific Time).

Esteemed directors del Toro and Ang Lee will start by revealing the nominees for best animated feature film, cinematography, costume design, documentary feature, documentary short subject, makeup and hairstyling, original song, animated short film, live action short film, sound editing, and sound mixing.

The two directors are not new to the academy as Ang Lee picked up the Best Director in 2013 for "Life of Pi" and in 2006 for "Brokeback Mountain". Before that, he was nominated for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" in 2001. Del Toro on the other hand earned a nomination in 2007 for Best Original Screenplay for "Pan's Labyrinth".

Krasinski and Boone will follow up after them announcing the nominees for best actor, actress, supporting actor, supporting actress, directing, film editing, foreign language film, original score, best picture, production design, visual effects, adapted screenplay, and original screenplay.

Catch the live broadcast of the nominee announcement of the 88th Annual Academy Awards 2016 on 14 January 2016, at 9.30pm on HBO / HBO HD (Astro Ch 411 / 431).

The 88th Annual Academy Awards will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre, California on 29 February 2016, 8AM onwards on HBO / HBO HD (Astro Ch 411 / 431)
