Disney has confirmed the third movie in the series that will begin
with "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story".

23 Sep – "Star Wars" fans rejoice, it's been confirmed that a third stand-alone movie under the "A Star Wars Story" banner will be released come the year 2020!

Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed the news during an investor gathering, according to Deadline, stating that a writer has been hired to develop the upcoming movie.

The yet-to-be-titled movie will be the last in the stand-alone series, forming a trilogy which will begin with this year's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" – releasing on 15 December, followed by the Han Solo spin-off due out on 25 May 2018.

No further details on the movie have been released at the moment.

There'll be no shortage of "Star Wars" movies for fans for the next few years, it seems. Disney is keeping The Force strong by releasing a movie from the popular sci-fi franchise every year.

Apart from the aforementioned 2016, 2018 and 2020 releases, there will also be "Star Wars: Episode VIII" and "Star Wars: Episode IX", the follow-ups to last year's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", which will be released in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
