21 Mar – Disney Malaysia has revealed the fate of "Beauty and the Beast" – the movie has been confirmed for release in Malaysia without any cuts.
While previously LPF has asked for cuts to be made, after Disney Malaysia submitted an appeal for it to be overturned, the movie is now set to be released in local cinemas in its unabridged version.
Disney Malaysia has confirmed that the movie has now been approved to be released in Malaysia with no cuts, with a P13 rating.
The Malaysian Censorship Board (LPF) could not be contacted for further comment at the time of writing.
Previously slated for release on 16 March, it had to be postponed following LPF's decision to cut 4 minutes and 30 seconds of "gay moments" from the movie. Walt Disney Co. later stated that it will release the movie in Malaysia with any cuts.
But fans can now have their happy ending as "Beauty and the Beast" will start showing in Malaysian cinemas from this 30 March.
