Rooney Mara's fans are still rooting for her to return as Lisbeth Salander, it seems.

18 Sep – Some people just can't take changes and the fans of Lisbeth Salander are definitely one of them.

Following news of Emmy-nominated Claire Foy set to star as the young computer hacker, as reported by Variety, fans of the series immediately took to their social media to voice their disapproval.

"I'm sadly disappointed in this choice..." a fan commented. "If you're making these movies then find an actress worthy of the Lizbeth Salander character and keep her in all the movies instead of expecting the fans of the books to buy a ticket to another new rendition of a much loved character."

Some even uses the hashtag #NotMyLisbeth to share their opinions, saying "#NotMyLisbeth Rapace will always be Lisbeth to me."

"The Crown's" Claire Foy might have to give her all to win over fans as the new Lisbeth Salander.

Nominated for an Emmy at this year's 69th Primetime Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth in the hit Netflix series "The Crown", Foy has reportedly beat out "Rogue One" star Felicity Jones and new "Tomb Raider" lead Alicia Vikander for the role.

Previous actresses that have portrayed Lisbeth Salander include Noomi Rapace in the original Swedish series and Rooney Mara in the 2011 American adaptation of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" alongside Daniel Craig.

Fans had state their preferences for the previously-cast Rooney Mara or Noomi Rapace to reprise the role of Lisbeth Salander.

With its previous books having been adapted into three Swedish-language films, "The Girl in the Spider's Web" marks the first in its series to be produced into an English-language film.

To be helmed by "Don't Breathe's" Fede Alvarez, with a screenplay also by Alvarez alongside Steven Knight and Jay Basu, the upcoming sequel will begin production in January in Berlin and Stockholm.

It is expected to be released in North America on 19 October 2018.
