27 May – Director Matthew Vaughn is eager to continue the story of Taron Egerton and Colin Firth's Gary "Eggsy" Unwin and Harry Hart, and he's hoping to begin production on it by this year. Vaughn told Digital Spy that the "Kingsman" characters will return in their third movie together to "finish off the Eggsy and Harry relationship." "The final chapter of their relationship needs to be told, which we've got ready to do, and I'm hoping to shoot that later this year or the beginning of next year," he said. The director has mentioned since last year that "Kingsman 3" will be the movie that concludes the relationship of the two secret agents. But while he's had the idea for a while, he could only begin shooting the movie the earliest by this year since he's first had to focus on the upcoming prequel, "Kingsman: The Great Game".
The prequel is often confused as "Kingsman 3" since technically it is the third instalment of the "Kingsman" movie franchise. However, this one is set before Eggsy and Harry's time so it won't feature Egerton and Firth in it. Instead, the likes of Harris Dickinson, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Daniel Daniel Brühl and Gemma Arterton will be starring in the prequel, which tells of the formation of the spy agency in the early 1900s. After "Kingsman: The Great Game" releases in North America on 14 February 2020, having been moved from it's previous November 2019 date, "Kingsman 3" will then open in cinemas. However, there is no release date set yet for "Kingsman 3". In the meantime, fans can catch another Vaughn-Egerton collaboration, "Rocketman", which opens in cinemas this July. Vaughn produces the biographical musical film which stars Egerton as Elton John.
