14 Jul – When news broke last week that former "Glee" actress Naya Rivera had gone missing after going boating with her son at Lake Piru, many feared the worst.

Now the latest update revealed that the worst has indeed happened, when a body was found floating at in the northeast area of the lake on Monday morning.

"We are confident the body we found is that of Naya Rivera," said Ventura County Sheriff, Bill Ayub, as quoted by CNN. He added that there is no indication of foul play involved or of suicide.

A detailed autopsy will take place at the Ventura County Coroner's Office, where dental records will be used to confirm the deceased's identity.

33-year-old Rivera was reported missing last Wednesday and was presumed dead, after her son was found floating alone in their rental pontoon boat.

The 4-year-old boy told investigators that he and his mother had been swimming in the Southern California lake, but she did not get back on the boat. The last he saw of her was when she disappeared under the surface of the water.

Rivera had been in the entertainment industry since she was a baby, growing up in front of the camera as she was cast in various TV roles during her childhood.

Her big break came in 2009 when she was cast as Santana Lopez in "Glee", playing a cheerleader in the musical series. Aside from TV appearances, she also acted in several big screen titles, her last was 2017's "Mad Families".

She had been one of the recurring characters in the Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-produced "Step Up" TV series. According to a post on her Instagram six weeks ago, she was set to film the third season of the show, which would be airing on American cable Starz.
