29 Apr – The Gogularaajan-directed short film, "VIRUS MAIRUS", has been named as the winner of the short film competition #KumanPicturesChallenge by production company Kuman Pictures.

"VIRUS MAIRUS" nabbed the RM1,000 cash prize while short films "AI" and "FILLET" were awarded the Special Prize, receiving RM250 in cash each.

All the short film entries were judged by Shamyl Othman.

"Addiction and confinement can be quite a scary combination. Throw in humor (really dark humor) and this short film manages to set a tonality that is both relatable yet unique; and the decision to tell most of it in black & white really drives this sense of light and dark. You really don't know if you should laugh or cry by the end of this one," Shamyl commented on "VIRUS MAIRUS".

The #KumanPicturesChallenge short film competition that started at the end of last month received more than 200 entries.

Cinema Online would also like to congratulate the winners and to those who didn't win, don't give up and keep trying.

Aside from #KumanPicturesChallenge, another local production company, Skop Productions, is also holding a short film competition with interesting prizes for the winners.
