6 Apr – Amitabh Bachchan has set to star in the remake of the Hollywood movie, "The Intern". The actor will be working alongside Deepika Padukone in the new movie and will play the role of retired executive-turned-intern that was portrayed by Robert De Niro in the original. It is noted that the role was originally given to Rishi Kapoor prior to the actor's death in April 2020. Bachchan also shared the good news on social media by posting a teaser poster of the upcoming movie, writing, "One more time... Indian Adaptation of #TheIntern."
Meanwhile, Padukone, who has been cast as the workaholic CEO that was originally played by Anne Hathaway, expressed her elation over the upcoming collaboration with Bachchan, writing on Instagram, "What an absolute honour to be collaborating with one of my most special co-star again! Welcoming [Amitabh Bachchan] to the Indian adaptation of ["The Intern"]."
The original 2015 movie, which grossed UD 195 million worldwide, revolves around the friendship between 70 year-old widower Ben Whittaker, who takes on an internship job at the About The Fit; and young Jules Ostin, the CEO of the company. The Indian remake of the film is set to begin filming in November this year, and to be released sometime in 2022. It is directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and co-produced by Padukone herself.
