17 Sep – A remake is in the works for the 1992 Whitney Houston-starrer, "The Bodyguard". According to Variety, not much is known about the upcoming Warner Bros. project except that screenwriter Matthew Lopez ("The Inheritance") is set to write the script for the upcoming project with Lawrence Kasdan producing it. It is noted that Kasdan was also the writer and producer of the original.
The movie is also revealed not to be a direct remake of the 1992 film, but inspired by the romance drama that also co-stars Kevin Costner. No news as to who will play the leads, though pairings like Channing Tatum and Cardi B as well as Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson (who have already worked together in two films) have been floated. "The Bodyguard" was a huge financial success, grossing USD 400 million at the box office, with Whitney Houston's cover of Dolly Parton's song, "I Will Always Love You" hitting the top charts.
