Bong Joon-ho to produce "Parasite" series for HBO

Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite" won four Oscars at the 92nd Academy Awards last year

9 Jul – Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho has recently confirmed that there will be a series adaptation of his Oscar-winning movie, "Parasite".

The director shared as much during his Cannes Film Festival's masterclass, saying that he will be producing the black comedy series on HBO, and will be collaborating with "The Big Short" writer-director Adam McKay on the project.

"[The television series] will be something of great genius, I hope. I worked with Adam McKay and he's figuring out the scenario. We're going to do it in the United States," he said.

The 2019 original film is a commentary on the subject of social class

In a previous interview, McKay stated that the HBO series is an original, and not a remake of the 2019 film.

On the other hand, it was rumoured that Mark Ruffalo could be joining the project as well, though there has been no official word on casting just yet.

No information about the release date has been revealed as well.
