20 Sep – Following Julianne Hough's apology over her near involvement with the reality show, "The Activist", Priyanka Chopra has now released her own statement of apology for being a part of the now reformatted programme. On 17 September, the actress posted a note of apology which read, "I have been moved by the power of your voices over the past week. At its core, Activism is fuelled by cause and effect, and when people come together to raise their voice about something, there is always an effect. You were heard." "The show got it wrong, and I'm sorry that my participation in it disappointed many of you. The intention was always to bring attention to the people behind the ideas and highlight the actions and impact of the causes they support tirelessly. I'm happy to know that in this new format, their stories will be the highlight, and I'm proud to collaborate with partners who have their ear to the ground and know when it's time to hit pause and re-evaluate." She admitted that there is a global community of activists who fight the fight every single day that had rarely been heard or acknowledged, and that they should instead be recognised and celebrated. "Thank you to each and every one of you for all that you do," she added.
Priyanka was one of the previously announced judges for CBS' new aforementioned reality show, which was originally to challenge six competitors in a variety of activism-themed contests before appearing at a summit of world leaders in Italy. Priyanka was to be one of the judges aside from R&B singer Usher and actress Julianne Hough. However, it received a huge backlash from the public, with many pointing out that the show was against the nature of activism itself. CBS had since change the format into a one-time documentary.
