5 Apr – Ameesha Patel is elated to make her return in the sequel to her hit 2001 film, "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha". Speaking to Times of India about the said project, which will reunite her with lead actor Sunny Deol, the actress said that the two of them will reprise their roles as Tara and Sakina. "It's a take-off from where we left the original story. If Gadar was the story till the proverbial interval then Gadar 2 is what happens post interval," she said.
Saying that the sequel will be a continuation of the story, Ameesha also teased that the film will have all the perfect ingredients of emotions, music, high drama and a bit of comedy. "I just hope the audiences give us as much love and appreciation as they had with Gadar," she added. The original film, released in 2001, stars Sunny Deol and Ameesha as two lovers from different religions facing tough challenges during the Partition of India in 1947. It is loosely based on the love story of Boota Singh, a former Sikh soldier of the British Army, and Zainab, the Muslim girl he rescued during the communal riots during the said era.
