1 Dec - The 2023 Academy Awards will be returning to its previous format, following the backlash over last year's decision to cut several categories from the live telecast.

Speaking to the media recently, the new Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) CEO Bill Kramer stated that they will definitely include all categories in next year's live telecast.

"We are committed to having a show that celebrates the artisans, the arts and sciences and the collaborative nature of moviemaking. This is very much what the mission of the Academy is, and I am very hopeful that we can do a show that celebrates all components of moviemaking in an entertaining and engaging way," Kramer said.

It is noted that last year, the Oscars was blasted for cutting eight of the categories, including Best Documentary Short, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score from the main telecast to shorten the duration of the event, with many saying that the cuts were disrespectful to many hardworking people in the industry.

Prior to the latest announcement, it was revealed that Jimmy Kimmel will return for the third time to host the awards.

"All I will say right now is that our anniversary, the 95th Oscars, is extremely important to us. I think it sets a really interesting rhythm for our 100th. You see this in the museum, I think we are able to celebrate our legacy while bringing the Academy into the future and the show will reflect that," Kramer added.

The 95th Academy Awards will be held on 12 March 2023.
