24 Mar – Adrian Teh's latest work, "The Assistant" has been officially selected for competition at the 24th Far East Film Festival (FEFF) in Udine, Italy, making it the first time that it will be screened at an international festival. Sharing the good news recently, MIFFest Chairperson Joanne Goh stated, "I was thrilled to receive the news that "The Assistant" has been selected for competition and had its international premiere at the Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy. It has always been part of the Malaysian International Film Festival's philosophy to show the best of Malaysian cinema to the international film industry." This year also marks the first collaboration between the MIFFest and the FEFF in Italy, and the two festivals hope that the exchange will pave the way for new milestones in both the East and West's films and film industries. In addition to being selected for competition, "The Assistant" will also be making its World Premiere at the said festival.
"I am honoured to be recognised by the Far East Film Festival, with the great support from MIFFest," said filmmaker Adrian Teh, who also wrote and produced the said movie. "We are looking forward to the world premiere of "The Assistant", we hope that the audience in Udine will enjoy our film." Teh is the director who brought us the action-packed and high-adrenaline "Paskal The Movie" and "Wira", both highly successful local productions. An action-thriller, "The Assistant" tells the story of Zafik (played by Iedil Dzuhrie Alaudin), who is wrongfully imprisoned for his mistakes. After losing everything, he meets Feroz (played by Hairul Azreen) who always seems to appear at the right time. It is set to hit major Malaysian cinemas nationwide this 19 May.
