13 Dec - It looks like Ridley Scott has confirmed Paul Mescal's involvement in a Beatles film before the studio even had the chance to do so.

The filmmaker, who worked with Mescal on "Gladiator II", was asked by Christopher Nolan during a conversation held at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles if Mescal will be starring in his next project, the thriller film, "The Dog Stars"

In response to the question, Scott confirmed this as true at first but then stated that Mescal might not be able to do the movie due to his schedule.

"Paul is actually stacked up, doing the Beatles next. So, I may have to let him go," he said.

While Sony Pictures has been mum about the project, there has been rumours going around that the actor will be playing Paul McCartney in the four Beatles films that will be helmed by Sam Mendes.

Last week, Mescal showed off his vocal range during a Gladiator skit on "SNL", surprising new fans who had since expressed their desire to see him in a "Hercules" live-action film.

Prior to this, Beatles drummer Ringo Starr declared that Barry Keoghan will play him in the films.

It is noted that Sony Pictures and Sam Mendes will be working on four biopics back-to-back that feature each member of the British band.
