Watch this if you liked: “Big Momma’s House”, “Big Momma’s House 2”, “Mrs. Doubtfire”

"Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son" might seem just like another slapstick comedy to be added to the Big Momma franchise and truth to be told, is another film necessary to make it into an official trilogy? Back in 2000, when the first "Big Momma's House" movie comes out, a lot of people love it very much that it spawns a sequel in 2006, allowing it to pass the one-hit wonder milestone. And now, John Whitsell returns with the third movie which is focusing on FBI agent Malcolm Turner's relationship with his already teenaged stepson Trent.

With a third movie, Momma's fans could have expected a totally different plot altogether but so it seems that Whitesell might just unintentionally over-used the typical scenarios in any witness protection type of plot. However, to add more spice to the plate, Whitesell focuses on both Malcom (Martin Lawrence) and his stepson Trent (Brandon T. Jackson) without throwing off the balance between the two leads as they share a fair amount of actions as well as scenes in the third film.

Martin Lawrence never fails to tickle the audience's funny bones whenever he dons the latex suite of one Big Momma. From the first movie to this third one, Lawrence still managed to prove to the audience why he is one of the best comedians of all time in Hollywood. Gone were his "Bad Boys" days and although it might have seen as if he is now tied to fatherly roles, Lawrence definitely makes the coolest father a child could ever have. Just as entertaining yet heart-warming was his performance alongside teen idol Raven Symone in 2008's "College Road Trip", fans can nevertheless expect the same endearing affections by Lawrence in "Big Mommas: Like Father Like Son". Meanwhile Brandon T. Jackson presents a rather remarkable talent as both actor and a stage performer in the movie and not even once he is left behind by Lawrence. Both actors had a great working relationship in the movie that comedy fans could not find any spot that could throw the dynamic off the scale. He proves that Trent is a very welcoming addition to the Big Momma family and he is as comical yet as talented since his more famous roles in "Tropic Thunder" and "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief". Jackson also provides a very catchy soundtrack for the film that can be enjoyed during the ending credits. That is good enough to replace the bloopers in any comedies.

Overall, "Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son" is not a movie that any Big Momma's fans should ever missed. Toss out the typical cliche plot out of the window and enjoy what the father and son duo can bring to the silver screen. This is definitely another good comedy to be added into the movie collection and let's give a warm welcome to the Big Momma Trilogy!
