Crime film director Mysskin who is well known for making films like "Anjathey" and "Chitram Pesuthudi" tries a new genre of introducing super hero characters in his latest film "Mugamoodi" which is partly dedicated to martial arts legend Bruce Lee.

Carefree youth Anand aka Bruce Lee (Jiiva), is a trained Kung Fu student by a local Kung Fu master. To impress his new found love, Sakthi (Pooja Hegde), he appears as a masked man "Mugamoodi". Along the way, a team of robbers lead by Angusamy (Narain) who are well trained in Kung Fu too, give a hard time to police officer, Gaurav (Naseer) when they come along to disrupt the peace. During an assassination attempt on Gaurav, Anand is wrongly framed. To clear his name, he decides to become a real superhero known as "Mugamoodi". The rest is how Anand uses his Kung Fu skills and his new found super hero identity to battle against the baddies.

Jiiva's character as Kung Fu fighter impresses more than his acting skills. Narain is a big letdown as the villain and doesn't give the menacing look which is needed for a superhero film. It irritates to see both of them resemble the Joker and Batman characters from "The Dark Knight". Newcomer Pooja Hedge looks pretty, but was a waste of talent as she lacks screen presence. Nasser as usual impresses, even with little time scope available for him.

The music score is striking in both song tracks and background scores especially the "Vaayamudi" track. Another plus points for the film is that it has not glorified the main roles with superhero qualities, but rather kept them within normal human limits. The martial arts action sequences and chases are a plus point for the film. On the downside, the narration is slow and takes time to make sense, which thus leads to a lengthy film duration. The end climax could have been made better, but it turns out to be plain flat and simple. If you are expecting the usual Mysskin style of crime story, then you may be in for a disappointment, as there is no suspense element and everything is revealed in first half of the film.
