Asian Three-Fold Mirror 2016: Reflections (JFF)

Depicting the lives of characters who journey between Japan, Cambodia, the Philippines and Malaysia, the omnibus film starts off with "SHINIUMA Dead Horse" where a Filipino illegal immigrant is deported and forced to make a new life in his homeland which he has not visited in decades. Set in Penang, "Pigeon" revolves around the warm bond between an elderly Japanese man suffering from dementia and his Malaysian care worker. Ending the movie is "Beyond The Bridge", a love story that transcends time and borders, in which the president of a Japanese company recalls his time spent in Cambodia overseeing the construction of the "Japanese Bridge" and wonder about the Cambodian woman who he fell in love with.
Ia adalah sebuah filem yang menampilkan tiga cerita berbeza daripada tiga pengarah iaitu Brillante Ma Mendoza, Isao Yukisada dan Sotho Kulikar. Dalam cerita "SHINIUMA Dead Horse", seorang pendatang haram Filipina telah dipaksa untuk memulakan hidup baru di tanah airnya selepas berdekad lama tidak pulang. Filem kedua "Pigeon" pula berlatarkan di Penang, Malaysia dan mengisahkan tentang hubungan antara seorang wanita penjaga dan seorang lelaki tua warga Jepun yang mengidap dementia. Manakala cerita ketiga "Beyond The Bridge" berlatarkan perang sivil dan memaparkan tentang kisah cinta pasangan Jepun-Kemboja.
