While living in Sweden with his pregnant wife, images of people fleeing Iraq made him return to his home country to document the tragedy. When he arrives, he is given an opportunity to travel in a helicopter to the Shingal mountains, where thousands of Yazidis are trapped. On the way to the chopper, he discovers an 11-year-old girl, Souad, lying on the ground in pain. Choosing to stay by her side, Hirori rejects the helicopter offer. This decision later saves his life as the same helicopter soon crashes. However, Souad unexpectedly disappears, prompting Hirori`s search for her. Determined to find his saviour, Hirori embarks on numerous trips back to Iraq in search of Souad.

Ketika tinggal di Sweden dengan isterinya yang sarat hamil, imej-imej orang melarikan diri dari Iraq membuatkan dia kembali ke kampung halamannya untuk mendokumenkan tragedi itu. Apabila tiba di sana, dia telah diberi peluang untuk mengembara dengan helikopter ke pergunungan Shingal, di mana beribu Yazidi terperangkap. Ketika dalam perjalanan, dia menemui gadis berusia 11 tahun, Souad, terbaring di tanah dalam kesakitan. Dia memilih untuk berada di sisi gadis itu dan menolak tawaran untuk menaiki helikopter. Keputusan itu telah menyelamatkan nyawanya apabila helikopter itu terhempas. Bagaimanapun, Souad kemudian telah hilang, dan Hirori mula mencarinya.
