The real story behind the popular Chinese folk tale, "Journey to the West". During the Tang Dynasty, young Xuan Zang journeys outside of his country to India in pursuit for the knowledge in Buddhism. Along the way, he encounters many obstacles such as natural disasters, shortage of food, obstruction from enemies, and the betrayal of disciples, but he carries on with persistence, all in the quest for Buddha`s teachings at the Nalanda Temple.
Filem berdasarkan kisah sebenar disebalik kisah dogeng China, "Journey to the West". Ketika Dinasti Tang, seorang pemuda Xuan Zang mengembara ke luar negara ke India untuk mencari pengetahuan mengenai Buddha. Sepanjang perjalanan, dia bertemu dengan pelbagai halangan seperti bencana alam, kekurangan maknan dan juga musuh, tetapi dia meneruskan pengembaraannya demi mendapat ilmu di Kuil Nalanda.
