The Good, the Bad and the Vengeful Merchant:

• Though taking place in the same universe as Milla Jovovich's "Resident Evil", the movie and the mainstream franchise are unconnected, as "Vendetta"directly ties into characters and events from the original games.

• The movie plays out like a 90-minute omnibus of "cut scenes" - the sequences of clunky narrative exposition inserted between completed levels in a video game that drive its plot forward.

• Nevertheless, the movie is full of crazy action akin to "The Matrix", "Equilibrium", or "John Wick", but sometimes it is so over the top that it's laughable.

• Fans of the game franchise would definitely understand and also appreciate the movie a lot better than normal folks who have no knowledge about the games.

Trivia:

• The movie features the first animated story appearance of Rebecca Chambers, her last in-game appearance before this film was "Resident Evil Ø" (2002), which was released 15 years earlier.
