Based on the Japanese novel titled "The Miracles of the Namiya General Store", the movie centers on three teenagers who run away from home to an old, abandoned general store, and discover a letter from the past that is addressed to the owner of the store. The three friends decide to write a reply to the letter and put it back in the mailbox, and are surprised to receive response from the past sender. Realising that they are able to communicate with the people from 30 years ago, the friends keep on responding to the all the upcoming letters, and through the process, they learn the truth about the owner of the store and how has he changed the people`s as well as their lives.

Berdasarkan novel Jepun berjudul "The Miracle of the Namiya General Store", ia berkisarkan tentang tiga remaja yang melarikan diri dari rumah ke sebuah kedai lama terbiar dan menemui sepucuk surat dari masa lampau yang dialamatkan kepada pemilik kedai itu. Ketiga-tiga mereka membalas surat itu dan meletak semula di peti surat, dan terkejut apabila menerima maklum balas dari penulis sebelum ini. Menyedari mereka boleh berkomunikasi dengan orang dari 30 tahun lalu, mereka sering berbalas surat, dan sepanjang proses itu mereka mendapat tahu kebenaran mengenai pemilik kedai dan bagaimana dia telah mengubah orang dan juga hidup mereka.
