Based on a true story about 34-year-old Yasuaki Shikano, who has suffered from muscular dystrophy since he was 12 years old. Even though he lives confined to a wheelchair, he is an upbeat and eccentric man with a peculiar habit of demanding to be fed a banana late at night. He recruits volunteers to help him live an independent life but they have to cater to his every whim. One of the volunteers is med school student Tanaka. When one day Yasuaki falls for a girl name Misaki, he asks Tanaka to help him write a love letter, not knowing that she is Tanaka`s girlfriend.

Yasuaki Shikano adalah seorang pesakit distrofi otot sejak umur 12 tahun, menyebabkan dia hanya mampu bergerak menggunakan kerusi roda. Biarpun dalam keadaan begitu, dia adalah seorang lelaki yang periang dan bersemangat. Namun dia mempunyai satu perangai pelik, iaitu sering keluar dari hospital pada tengah malam kerana ingin makan pisang. Suatu hari, dia telah bertemu dengan seorang pelajar perubatan dari Hokkaido, Hisashi Tanaka, dan gadis cantik bernama Misaki Ando yang melakukan kerja amal di hospital tersebut. Tanpa mengetahui bahawa Misaki adalah teman wanita Hisashi, dia telah meminta Hisashi untuk menulis surat cinta buat gadis itu.
