8 Apr – Yesterday, a massive car convoy consisting of 67 Lotus cars led by the exclusively coated chrome Lotus Evora made their way to the main entrance of Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur at 930am in the morning, charting a new record in the Malaysian Book Records for the largest Lotus car gathering in Malaysia. The chrome Lotus Evora was driven by 20-year-old Malaysian race car driver Natasha Seatter, who is known as the fastest and youngest female driver in Asia.
The special event was organized in conjunction with the release of Andrew Niccols's "The Host", with a surprise guest appearance by the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad. "I'm pleasantly surprised to see that there is such an event in Malaysia but at the same time, I hope to see more events like this in the future as it helps to promote Malaysia, not to mention the Lotus Evora, to tourists," said Tun Dr. Mahathir.
Although the convoy is no longer parked in front of Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur, moviegoers and car aficionados can still have a look at the chrome Lotus Evora in the shopping mall, where it will be on display from 1 to 10 April 2013 before moving on to the IPC Movie Fiesta, IPC Shopping Mall from 11 to 28 April 2013. The event was organized by Nusantara Edaran Filem (NEF), with the support of Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Lotus Cars Malaysia. Adapted from Stephenie Meyer's novel of the same name, "The Host" takes place in a dystopian future where the human race has been assimilated by benevolent extra-terrestrial psychic parasites called "Souls". When one girl, Melanie Stryder, is captured and infused with a soul called "Wanderer", her refusal to submit control may bring about a change to the future of the humans and Souls. The film is out in local cinemas now! Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, and Jake Abel star.
