21 Feb - Sarawak's critically acclaimed film, "Tegkang," is about to achieve another milestone when it officially premieres on Netflix globally on February 28, 2025. This marks a significant achievement for the Sarawak filming industry as one of the few local productions to reach international audiences through leading streaming platforms.

Produced by MyContent Distribution, "Tegkang" presents a touching story set in the beautiful highlands of Bario, Sarawak, exploring themes of independence, family, love, and resilience in the face of challenges. The movie provides an authentic view into the unique culture of the Kelabit community.

"Tegkang" has achieved significant international recognition, winning Best Debut Filmmaker Award at the Lift-Off Sessions at Pinewood Studios, London.

With support from FINAS, the Malaysian Ministry of Communications under the Digital Content Fund (DKD), and the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Art, and Culture, "Tegkang" stands as a testament to Malaysia's growing presence in global cinema.

Executive Producer, Lyn Nasihin, shared: "This is a proud moment for the Tegkang team and Malaysia as a whole. Our goal is to deliver an authentic story while showcasing Sarawak's beauty. Tegkang's Netflix release is a step toward bringing our story to the world stage, hoping to inspire more regional stories at the international level."

FINAS CEO, Datuk Azmir, added: "We feel very proud to see Tegkang make a name at the international level. This achievement proves the quality of Malaysian storytelling, especially stories from Borneo that have great global appeal."

The film's journey has not only brought global attention to the Malaysian film industry but has also positioned Sarawak as an attractive filming destination. With "Tegkang" now ready for global streaming on Netflix, audiences worldwide will experience this beautiful Malaysian story.
