The Muppets 11th film

"The Muppet Movie" is the first of a series of live-action musical feature films starring Jim Henson's Muppets. Released in 1979 which then spanned 9 films since, the Muppets are coming back again in its first theatrical release in 12 years, as well as the first Disney-produced Muppets film since 1996's "Muppet Treasure Island". The 11th film of the franchise will also include Jason Segal and Amy Adams and is due for release this December 2011.

11 million budget for "Star Wars"

The first ever "Star Wars" film of 1977, now known as "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope" was creator George Lucas' magnum opus that soon lead to 5 more movies and a total worldwide gross of US $4.4 billion over a 25 year span of film releases. Believe it or not, all this started out with a production budget of only US $11million for the first film!

Oscar wins

The Academy Awards' Oscar is like the Holy Grail of movies, and through the annual ceremony's prestigious years, only 3 movies have managed to have won a whopping amount of 11 wins! The movies that have 11 Oscars to their name are, "Ben-Hur" (1959), "Titanic" (1997) and "The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King" (2003). Will 2012 deliver another 11 Oscar win?

Lucky 11 in "Ocean's 11"

2001 Crime-comedy "Ocean's 11" a remake of the 1960 film of the same name, features 11 mastermind recruits who plan a major casino heist in Las Vegas. Among the 11 who make up Danny Ocean's (George Clooney's) group are; Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Casey Affleck and Bernie Mac. Obviously the 11 proved their magic onscreen as it provided the most winning robbery sequence of the decade.

Leo DiCaprio's Birthday

Leonardo DiCaprio who gained international stardom (as well as a few broken hearts) with his charming role in the 1997 mega-blockbuster "Titanic", is born on 11 November 1974. This day on 11.11.11, the actor turns 37-years-old, still single, after breaking the hearts of Gisele Bundchen, Bar Refaeli and most recently, Blake Lively.

Stanley Kubrick's screenplays

Hollywood visionary Stanley Kubrick may be synonymous with producing eccentric films in the past, but during his 5 decade long career in showbiz, the American film director, writer, producer, and photographer was responsible for penning 11 screenplays out of the 13 films he directed. Some of his notable works that were either adapted from novels or his own pessimistic imaginative style are, "2001: A Space Odyssey", "A Clockwork Orange", "The Shining" and "Full Metal Jacket".

Nominated Pixar animation films

Pixar Animation Studios popular for delivering cutting edge animation features, is responsible for 11 out of 12 (excluding "Cars 2") of their films getting Academy Award nominations and wins. The 11 films are "Toy Story", "A Bug's Life", "Toy Story 2", "Monsters, Inc.", "Finding Nemo", "The Incredibles", "Cars", "Ratatouille", "WALL-E", "Up" and "Toy Story 3".

Horror film "11-11-11"

"11-11-11" is a horror film by Darren Lynn Bousman which is set at 11:11 on the 11th day of the 11th month. Not much is revealed about the movie which is supposedly kept a secret to surprise viewers, but what is known thus far is that the movie revolves around an entity from another world that enters the earthly realm through Heaven's 11th gate. The film is set to be released on 11 November 2011. Spooky much?

Movies based on 'September 11'

Although the terrorism attacks of September 11 are tragic indeed, this didn't stop Hollywood from producing adaptations that are based or somewhat related on the event. The are 11 major feature films thus far and they are; "The 9/11 Commission Report", "AmericanEast", "Amreeka", "Bandhak", "Julie And Julia", "Reign Over Me", "Remember Me", "The Space Between", "United 93", "World Trade Center" and "WTC View".

"Immortals" out on 11.11.11

"The Fall's" Tarsem Singh is back with another visionary piece this time in the form of the 3D fantasy adventure, "Immortals". The Greek mythical feature stars Henry Cavill, Frieda Pinto and Mickey Rourke among others, which is basically described as a Renaissance painting meets "Fight Club". Intrigued? Hold not on thee bated breaths, the movie is officially released worldwide today, 11.11.11, surely a day as magical as the Gods.

 

"KL Gangster" exceeds RM 11 million

Malaysian movie "KL Gangster" produced by Skop Productions and directed by Syamsul Yusof, broke records when the film collected RM 11 million after just 3 weeks of release, making it the first local film in the country to do so. The final local box office count for the movie is said to be approximately RM 12 million, and a sequel is reportedly in the works as well.
