Upon the herd's encounter with dinosaurs from a tropical lost world in "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs", our beloved critters from the primal universe are returning, this time on a voyage across continents on a raft made of ice! While anticipating their upcoming fun-filled adventures of sea waves and swashbuckling pirates, let us take a look at each and every one of these characters and find out more about the voice actors underneath the layers of ice!
Manny – Ray Romano
Being the star in "Everybody Loves Raymond", a television sitcom that should be known by anyone with a pulse, Ray Romano plays Manny, or Manfred the wooly mammoth. Recent news have reported that Romano will be heading towards the family sitcom "Parenthood" starring Lauren Graham and Peter Krause in a multi-story arc that is sure to bring him into a new family altogether!
Sid – John Leguizamo
Oh, who does not love Sid, the clumsy, annoying, slow moving, fast-talking, unpopular, lisping sloth? As we all can see, Sid shares quite the few similarities to that of versatile star John Leguizamo with their tongue-in-cheek personalities. The chameleon actor is rumoured to play the role of Jesus in a new upcoming film that is yet to be named, as well as a film called "Waco", based on the infamous Waco seige of 1993 starring alongside Giovanni Ribisi and Adrien Brody.
Diego – Denis Leary
Having a no-nonsense attitude added by an abrasive sense of humour, Denis Leary fits the role of Diego, the sarcastic smilodon perfectly. Fans of Diego, however, will have the chance to see his softer side in this movie as he falls in love with a seductive female smilodon named Shira in this upcoming "Ice Age" film. Leary on the other hand has another big movie out in cinemas, playing the smart-mouthed Captain George Stacy in "The Amazing Spider-Man".
Ellie – Queen Latifah
Woolly mammoth Ellie, who used to suffer an identity crisis upon mistaking herself as an opossum, is voiced by none other than the singer/rapper Queen Latifah. Apart from being the mother of the now 13-year-old Peaches on the animated screen, the hip hop's first lady will also be starring in the upcoming TV film, "Steel Magnolias" which starred Julia Roberts back in 1989, but for which the remake now will feature an all-African American cast.
Crash - Seann William Scott
Once again, the possum twins appear with Crash being voiced over by Seann William Scott. The blues eyes and goofy smile somewhat makes him resemble the actor / comedian, who is also currently working on an upcoming untitled Farrelly /Wessler comedy, which will be out in January 2012 and co-staring Emma Stone, Elizabeth Banks and Gerard Butler.
Shira - Jennifer Lopez
Watch Shira take her first strut in the latest "Ice Age" sequel as the seductive feline purrs her way into winning Diego's heart. The appearance of this female saber-toothed tiger would be "On The Floor" singer Jennifer Lopez's debut in voice acting. Apart from getting her hands dirty with music, J-Lo is also currently working on a new movie called "Parker" that is reported to be released next year, with co-star Jason Statham.
Eddie - Josh Peck
Whether it's his drastic weight loss that reveals the hottie that he is now, his natural comedic charm or his spectacular performance that won us over in the Indie film "The Wackness", Josh Peck is your underrated yet lovable actor cum eligible bachelor whom you should start noticing now. "Ice Age: Continental Drift" will be the third time for the former Nickelodeon star to play a possum named Eddie, who's also Crash's twin brother. With upcoming films "Red Dawn", "The Timber", "Battle of the Year: The Dream Team" and "Regular Boy" waiting in line, Peck has a lot going on and it's definitely time for him to rise.
Steffie - Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj is the latest addition to the herd as she steers away from "Starships" to makeshift ship by playing a woolly mammoth named Steffie. Having not acted on the big screen before, voice acting seems to be a good start for the Trinidadian-born American rapper, singer and songwriter to expand herself, as Minaj will next guest star on Fox's animated TV Series "The Cleveland Show" this fall.
