MBO Amcorp Mall ceases operation from August 2007

All quiet on a Sunday evening
31 Jul – It's time for curtain calls as today's 9.15pm "Die Hard 4.0" show at MBO Amcorp mall would be the very last at the cineplex.

Speaking on the phone, an MBO operations manager said, "MBO are buying the projectors and the rest of the equipment from the mall's management to be stored in our inventory as we are currently looking to open more cinemas across the country. I have heard rumours that the area will be turned into a food court of some sort but nothing has been confirmed, of course."

A visit by Cinema Online to the 3-screen cineplex last Sunday evening revealed mediocre crowds, with only a handful of people trickling through the doors after a show, despite it still showing three current blockbusters; "Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix", "Transformers" and "Die Hard 4.0". A ticket attendant quipped, "Perhaps it's not because the cineplex is not doing well but that the lot could be used for a more profitable business. All I know is that I won't be working here anymore by this Wednesday."

MBO Amcorp Mall was previously the now-defunct Smile Cinema, before operations were passed on to MBO.
