Jack Yao and Amber Kuo in "Au Revoir Taipei".

28 May - Director Arvin Chen's film debut "Au Revoir Taipei" has grossed over NT$15mil in Taipei within two weeks of the film release. On top of that, the film has won the Best Asian Film Award from the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) at the Berlin International Film Festival this year beating 11 other Asian entries. Meanwhile, Taiwanese movie "Monga", which has enjoyed huge box office success in Taiwan, did not manage to win a prize. Arvin Chen is no stranger to the Berlin film festival as he has won a Silver Berlin Bear-Jury Grand Prix for Short Films in 2007 for "Mei".

"Au Revoir Taipei" is a love story between Kai (Jack Yao) and Susie (Amber Kuo) who works in a bookshop. When his girlfriend dumps him over the phone, Kai decides to fly to Paris. He goes to a real estate agent who doubles up as a gangster, asking for help to get to Paris. Kai is asked to deliver a package in return for the favour, which sets up a chase that unfolds over one night in Taipei.

The movie is slated to screen in Singapore beginning 22 July 2010, however according to Cathay-Keris Films, it may be postponed to 29 July 2010. Meanwhile, the director and cast members are expected to make an appearance when the film debuts in Singapore. The movie is yet to be known whether it will show in Malaysia.
