5 Nov – KRU Studios has recently announced their next big project that involves an international cast line-up with Yusry Abdul Halim as the director.
After the success of "Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa" (a.k.a. "The Malay Chronicles"), comes "Vikingdom", KRU Studios' first English language feature film fully produced in Malaysia. The action-adventure feature based on the ancient Vikings is a story about a Viking warrior, Eirick who must face his violent past and lift the sword to face a demigod of incalculable power. Eirick is played by Dominic Purcell from the popular US TV series "Prison Break". Other cast include "DOA: Dead or Alive" actress, Natassia Malthe as Brynna, Craig Fairbrass as Sven, "Tekken" actor Jon Foo as Yang the slave and "The Hobbit" actor, Conan Steven as the God of Thunder, Thor. The stereoscopic 3D production is reportedly KRU's first venture into the realm of 3D cinematography. Some of the shooting locations in Malaysia include Kellie's Castle and Gua Tempurung in Perak.
With visual effects and production methods similar to blockbuster movies such as "300" and "The Lord of The Rings", "Vikingdom" promises to captivate a wide audience globally. Principal photography for "Vikingdom" has been ongoing since 15 October 2011 and shooting is scheduled to wrap up by end of the year.
