5 Dec – The wait is finally over for fans of TGV 1 Utama as it will finally be re-opened for business on Thursday 13 December, with 8 halls including one IMAX Theatre, and another 4 halls opening by February 2013, bringing the total number of all-digital halls to 12.
TGV 1 Utama was the first TGV multiplex to open almost two decades ago in 1995, with seven halls. On February 2011, the outlet was closed for heavy renovations, much to the disappointment of its regulars. Instead of it's original location on Level 2 in 1 Utama Shopping Centre's old wing, the cinema is now at level 3, previously occupied by parking spaces just above it's original location. A new set of escalators have also been added to provide seamless access to the new floor. In addition to the 12 new halls, TGV 1 Utama will also boast new facilities like a café. After TGV 1 Utama's full re-opening, shoppers and cinemagoers in this neighbourhood would be spoilt with a total of 39 screens within two almost adjacent mall complexes just 10 minutes walk apart, with 12 screens in TGV 1 Utama, 13 screens in GSC 1 Utama, and 14 screens in Cathay Damansara e@curve.
