1 Oct – Australian hunk Hugh Jackman finally confirmed that he will be starring in director Neill Blomkamp's upcoming sci-fi film titled "Chappie". "I am doing a role in Neill's new film, called "Chappie", which we will shoot in Johannesburg. I'm there for a couple of weeks at the beginning of next year," the actor said. Also set to star in the film are Neill's long-time collaborator and "Elysium" actor Sharlto Copley and Jose Pablo Cantillo. Dev Patel is also reportedly in talks to appear in the film. The film focuses on a kidnapped robot, which will be voiced by Copley. It is expected to release in early 2015. Co-producing the project are Sony Pictures Entertainment and MRC.
44-year-old actor Hugh Jackman was recently at the Zurich Film Festival to promote his film "Prisoners" and accept the Golden Icon Lifetime achievement honour. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, "Prisoners" also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Terrence Howard, and Paul Dano. Hugh Jackman will next appear in "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" alongside James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen Page, Halle Berry, Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart. The film is expected to land mid-2014.
