18 Aug – Vin Diesel is Hollywood's hottest action star, judging by the speed he is landing roles. The "Riddick" star will be producing and starring in another new, original science fiction action franchise titled "Soldiers Of The Sun".
Set in a post-apocalyptic future, the film focuses on a squad of soldiers take a detour from their duty tour in Mexico to search for a mythic city, said to be covered in gold. But first, they must liberate the fabled city of gold from an alien race known as Orcs.
Universal Pictures, the studio behind the "Fast And Furious" franchise, has reportedly picked up the film, with plan being to launch another hit action franchise similar to "Fast And Furious", seeing how the latter is coming to an end next year.
"Soldiers Of The Sun" will be penned by "Grace Of Monaco" screenwriter Arash Amel. Diesel will produce the film together with Samantha Vincent and Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
Diesel is also all but confirmed to voice the tree Groot in Marvel's "Guardians Of The Galaxy". The 46-year-old actor sparked speculations when he posted an image of Groot on his Facebook page and responded "So if everybody thinks you're going to go for this one thing and you flip it entirely and go for the strangest Marvel character, it's interesting. And when something is interesting, it's inspiring," when asked if he will be voicing Groot.
In addition, Diesel is also in negotiations to star in two more "Riddick" films. The star will next be seen in "Fast And Furious 7" and Summit's "The Last Witch Hunter".
