9 Jan – Cinemagoers can look forward to more cineplexes in the Klang Valley area with at least eight new cineplexes that will follow the opening of not only seven new shopping malls, but also another five more refurbished ones! As the news of the new malls was announced at the launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2014 over the weekend, cinema patrons will be glad to know that this year's cineplex additions will include more locations from Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and TGV Cinemas, as well as several other cineplexes from other chains which are yet to be confirmed at time of publishing. TGV Cinemas will be opening their new locations at The Strand Shopping Mall in Kota Damansara, D'Pulze Mall at Cyberjaya and Jaya Shopping Centre (8-screen) at Section 14, Petaling Jaya.
GSC Cinemas' new upcoming locations will include; Nu Sentral (11-screens) at Kuala Lumpur and Quill City Mall (10-screens) at Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.
The other 5 malls that have plans to house a cineplex but have yet to announce their tenants are; The Main Place at USJ 21 Subang Jaya, M Square in Puchong, Atria Shopping Gallery at Damansara Jaya, Sunway Velocity Lifestyle Mall at Kuala Lumpur and Sunway Putra Mall at Jalan Putra, Kuala Lumpur. Slated initially to open in 2015, the new IOI City Mall in Putrajaya is expected to also open by November 2014 and will house a 13-screen GSC cineplex.
