Sylvester Stallone returns in "Rambo 5"

Sylvester Stallone will don his bandana once again to star as "Rambo".

11 Sep – Tongues have been wagging about the possibility of "The Expendables" star Sylvester Stallone making a return in one of his iconic movies, "Rambo".

Now the rumours have been confirmed, Stallone is indeed returning as the machine gun-toting war veteran in the fifth instalment of the famous movie franchise.

Stallone first appeared as the fictional John Rambo in 1982's "First Blood", which is based on a novel of the same name by David Morrell, and directed the movie as well. It tells the story of Rambo, a Vietnam War veteran who is haunted by his time in the war-torn country. He gets into a conflict with Sheriff Will Teasle, who wants him dead, and Rambo's killing instinct kicks in.

Sylvester Stallone has made a big name through the "Rambo" franchise.

The first "Rambo" movie made a hefty USD 113.2 million worldwide, prompting the release of sequel "Rambo: First Blood Part II" in 1985. In 1988, "Rambo III" followed suit. No more sequels were released until one was twenty years later in 2008, simply titled "Rambo".

Now six years later, the 68-year-old action star thinks it is as good a time as any to revitalise the franchise. Titled as "Rambo: Last Blood", Stallone not only plans to play the character once more, he also plans to direct the movie.

It is reported that Avi Lerner will be producing the movie for Millenium Films. No other details, such as the cast and the movie plot, have been revealed so far. Fans will have to sit tight and await further development on the project.
