Angelina Jolie's latest adoption is just a rumour

14 Jan – While it was an uplifting tale, sadly it isn't true. Latest reports bring that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will not be expanding their family of eight after all.

The couple, plus their six children, was previously reported to have welcomed another Cambodian son into the family.

However, the Cambodian government has stepped in to shut down the rumours.

Sao Samphois, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Social Affairs' Inter-Country Adoption Administration, said to The Phnom Penh Post, "I saw [the news] on Facebook, but actually it's just a rumour."

Samphois further explained that since over a decade ago, America has suspended adoptions from Cambodia over trafficking concerns.

"The adoption between the two countries is not yet open," she added.

So far, only Italy has agreed to be a potential recipient country as Cambodia works on reopening its international adoptions.

The Jolie-Pitt couple already has one son adopted from Cambodia, their oldest child Maddox, who is currently working alongside his mother on the movie adaptation of "First They Killed My Father" in Siem Reap.v

The adoption news was meant to be taken with a grain of salt since this is not the first time the power couple was rumoured to be taking in another child.

Last year, the internet was abuzz with the news of them adopting a Syrian child, though this was also later debunked as mere rumour.
