28 Apr – The Film Director's Association of Malaysia (FDAM) have decided to exit the Federation of Film Artistes' Associations of Malaysia (GAFIM) effective yesterday, 27 April 2016, the result of their discussion with the committee members of the association. The announcement was made by the secretary of FDAM, Datuk Abdul Rahim Awang in his statement given to BH Online, which explains that the decision was made after GAFIM's leadership was seen to have been ignoring the interests of the eleven associations under their wing. As such, GAFIM has indirectly violated the association's ethics code that have made FDAM and other associations feel threatened, citing that the unity of teamwork among industry professionals have been compromised. Added Abdul Rahim, now there are ten other associations that are under GAFIM, and they are the Malaysia's Artiste Association (SENIMAN), National Association of Singers, Musicians, and Songwriters (PAPITA), TV Producers Association of Malaysia (PTVM), Film Workers Association of Malaysia (PROFIMA) and The National Broadcasters Association of Malaysia (PENYIAR). Also under GAFIM is the Malaysian Indian Entertainers Welfare Association (MIEWA), The Association of Malaysia Chinese Artistes (AMCA), Post-Production, Animation & Creative Content Association Malaysia (POSTAM), Creative Writers Guild Malaysia (CGM) and Malaysian Accredited Association of Commercial Filmmakers (PPFIM).
