29 Jan – Chiu Keng Guan's "Ola Bola" has placed Malaysia on the map as the film will be shown at the upcoming Taipei Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival (TGHFFF) which will be held from April 8 to 17, 2016. Chiu mentioned, "Previously, "Ola Bola" went through a post-production process in Taipei and received a lot of positive comments from the Taiwanese filmmakers. "Recently they contacted me to invite the film to be shown there. A few days later they sent me an official invitation," he tells Sinar Harian.
"The Journey" director was told by those from the film festival that they were impressed with the storyline and cinematography of "Ola Bola". "Ola Bola" got its inspiration from actual events during the Malaysian football team's glory days as they attempt to enter the Moscow Olympic Games back in 1980. The Chief Operating Officer of Astro, Henry Tan mentioned that they hope the film featuring elements of actions, emotion and inspiration can create a phenomenon in itself, because it not only has an interesting storyline, but also shows enthusiasm and the support of the many races in our country. The film stars newcomers JC Chee, Luqman Hafidz, Saran Kumar Manokaran, Marianne Tan, Katrina Ho in leading roles and also accompanied by veterans Bront Palarae and Frankie Lee. "Ola Bola" has just been released nationwide on January 28, 2016.
