28 Nov – "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" hasn't even hit the big screen yet but there are already follow ups planned for the animated movie! There are two follow ups to be exact as Sony Pictures Animation has announced a sequel and an all-female spinoff, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The sequel has yet to receive its own title but it is known that Joaquim Dos Santos ("Avatar: The Last Airbender" series, Netflix's "Voltron") has been tapped to direct. David Callaham, writer of "Wonder Woman 1984" and "The Expendables", is penning the script. As for the all-female spinoff, Lauren Montgomery ("Voltron", "Batman: Year One") is in talks to helm the movie from a script by CBS' "Zoo's" Bek Smith. Though there are no official reveal on which female 'Spider-hero' will be leading the spinoff, characters like Spider-Gwen, Spider-Woman, Madame Web, Spider-Girl and Silk are among the speculated contenders. Details for the two movies may not be set in stone yet but "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" is definitely swinging into cinemas this December. The animated movie centres on Brooklyn high schooler Miles Morales and explores the limitless possibilities of the Spider-verse. In order to stop a threat to all reality, the teen crosses parallel dimensions to team up with the Spider-Men of those dimensions.
