26 Aug – Marvel Studios is really working hard with those firsts in their upcoming works. While the big screen will have "Eternals" featuring the MCU's first deaf superhero, the small screen will have "Ms. Marvel" featuring the MCU's first Muslim superhero. The news was announced by the studio at the D23 Expo and shared on its social media, stating simply that the original series will be screened on Disney+. The Hollywood Reporter brought a bit more details, revealing that it will be a live-action series that will have British writer Bisha K. Ali on board as writer and showrunner. The title character in the series is the alter ego of a Pakistani American girl named Kamala Khan. The teenager, hailing from Jersey City, New Jersey, is an avid fan of Carol Danvers' Captain Marvel. She then assumes the mantle of Ms. Marvel from her idol. So far no casting news have been made in regard to the series. "Ms. Marvel" is expected to be made available on Disney's streaming platform by late 2021 or early 2022.
