20 May – It's good news to those in the entertainment industry as the government is finally allowing them to resume filming activities after the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

The announcement was made by Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Dato' Saifuddin bin Abdullah, yesterday evening during a Facebook Live session with Harith Iskander.

However, each production that wishes to do any filming activity must adhere to a strict Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

Film Director's Association of Malaysia (FDAM) president, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim, is among those who welcome the good news, stating that this is the most meaningful Hari Raya gift to them.

"We do hope to get back to work before Hari Raya, but Alhamdulillah, even after the Aidilfitri, we are also grateful. This is the most valuable Hari Raya gift for the film makers.

"InsyaAllah, FDAM will ensure compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP). Thank you minister for your concern," he said, according to Bernama.

Since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was enforced on 18 March, all production companies and crew as well as filmmakers lost their source of income as the government prohibited any filming activity to be carried out during the MCO.
