26 Aug – Jason Momoa gets fans excited after confirming that he is working on making a buddy cop movie idea with "Army of the Dead" actor Dave Bautista.
The interest in such a project came after Bautista tweeted the concept on 19 August, writing, "Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens. Here we go... Me and Momoa in a Lethal Weapon type buddy cop movie directed by David Leitch. Ok! There it is. Now we wait."
Leitch, who directed films like "Deadpool 2", "Hobbs & Shaw", and "Atomic Blonde", seemed interested as well, calling the concept "interesting".
Now, in an interview with James Corden to promote his and Bautista's series, "See", Momoa stated that he is very much interested in it.
"I'm not even gonna lie to you...I'm not on Twitter, but he literally texted me about four days ago, going, "We need to do a buddy cop film." We love each other - we met on [the series] See, we're [in] "Dune" together, and so I said, "Absolutely." And he said, "Let's do it in Hawaii." I'm like, do it, [I've] got an idea. So it's off to the races now, we're doing it," he said.
Momoa also loved the idea of having the two on the big screen feeding on each other.
"It sells itself," said Momoa. "Dave loves wearing speedos, I love wearing board shorts and both of us with our shirts off [in a] buddy cop film, he'll be grumpy and I'll be charming. Boom. I've got the hair, he doesn't have hair. We cover all the demographics."
Of course, it will be a long way to go before such a project would come to fruition, but the fact that all three people are interested in it means that it is one step closer to coming true.
