21 Mar – The National Artists Day (Hari Seniman Negara) has now been rescheduled to be celebrated annually on 22 March.

The news was announced by the Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, who stated that the date has been changed in commemoration of the birth of the late legend, Tan Sri P Ramlee.

"The significant change in the date of the National Artists Day celebration is to commemorate his services and contributions to the country's creative industry, besides celebrating the work of P Ramlee who not only succeeded in producing more creative industry figures and experts, but also introduced Malaysia to the world," he said.

Tan Sri Annuar added that the change was made after consulting several associations and related organisations, before it was passed by the Cabinet Memorandum.

In conjunction with National Artists Day, the ministry intends to establish a strategic partnership with stakeholders in organising the launching ceremony of National Artists' Day, this Tuesday.

"This move is to appreciate the contribution and role of the country's creative industry, especially in developing the country through arts, creative and cultural activities as well as the government's efforts to elevate the creative industry to a more excellent level," he added.

Prior to the change, the National Artists Day was celebrated on 29 May.
