22 Jun – The upcoming Karan Johar-produced movie "Jug Jugg Jeeyo" has to be screened to a Ranchi court first before its release, following an allegation of copyright infringement. The issue sparked after Ranchi-based writer Vishan Singh accused the film of using the content of his story, "Punny Rani" without giving him any credit.
He sought a stay on the release of the film and a hefty compensation.
On 18 June, following a hearing, the Commercial Court at Ranchi Civil Court directed the film's producer Dharma Productions to show the film in the court on June 21. It is noted that the film was previously announced to be screened on 24 June. The upcoming family drama, directed by Raj Mehta and co-produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, stars Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Neetu Kapoor. Not much information has been released about the film.
