11 Aug – Although he is renowned for directing the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, Peter Jackson recently admitted that he really would have loved to forget making the movies... ...so that he can enjoy it like everybody else. In an interview with THR recently, the New Zealand filmmaker shared, "When we did The Lord of the Rings movies, I always felt I was the unlucky person who never got to see as a coming-out-of-the-blue film. By the time they were screening, I was immersed in it for five or six years. It was such a loss for me not be able to see them like everyone else."
Jackson, who helmed all three LOTR movies from 2001 to 2004, and followed them up with the three "The Hobbits" movies in the 2010s, said that he yearns to watch the movies as a fan, so much so that he considered hypnosis. "I actually did seriously consider going to some hypnotherapy guy to hypnotise me to make me forget about the films and the work I had done over the last six or seven years so I could sit and enjoy them," he said. Although Jackson ended up not going through with it, he admitted that he did talk to British mentalist Derren Brown about that. "He thought he could do it," said Jackson. However, Jackson will finally be able to enjoy it soon, now that Amazon is coming out with "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power".
