27 May – "Goodfellas" star Ray Liotta has recently passed away. The actor's rep revealed that the actor passed away in his sleep in his hotel room sometime around Wednesday night or early Thursday while he was in the Dominican Republic, accompanied by his fiancée, Jacy Nittolo. Liotta had been in the country for the past week to shoot the movie, "Dangerous Waters".
"Goodfellas" director Martin Scorsese, who admitted to be shocked by the loss, released a statement, saying, "He was so uniquely gifted, so adventurous, so courageous as an actor. Playing Henry Hill in 'Good Fellas' was a tall order, because the character had so many different facets, so many complicated layers, and Ray was in almost every scene of a long, tough shoot. He absolutely amazed me, and I'll always be proud of the work we did together on that picture. My heart goes out to his loved ones, and it aches for his loss, way too early."
Known for his many tough guy characters in a variety of crime films, Liotta began his acting career on television through "Another World". Among his most popular movies include "Field of Dreams", "Hannibal", "John Q" and "Smokin' Aces". Aside from "Dangerous Waters", Liotta has several new movie projects that have yet to be released, including thriller "Cocaine Bear" and an untitled Charlie Day film. He was 67.
